Thanks to all our great speakers and attendees at this week’s Social Media Marketing Summit. Each and every speaker made a valuable contribution of time, effort and passing on incredible knowledge. Charlene Li and Shel Israel rocked it out handling the keynote duties. They both brought up so many fascinating points.
Featured speakers, Brian Solis, Tara Hunt, Karl Long and James Lamberti each had very unique perspective. Tara, I’m still thinking about better ways to spread the love. ... More

Earlier this week social media guru Brian Solis posted a blog entry about the state of social media. It is long, detailed and fascinating. It brings together much of the data and thoughts that have been published over the last six months or so and puts it all into perspective.
With the current economic conditions on everyone’s mind, this is a great piece that reminded me about how entrepreneurs and companies can harness the power of social media in ... More

In this week’s newsletter I gave out a list of all the great blogs (corporate and personal) from our elite roster of speakers at the Social Media Marketing Summit. This time around, since I’m all about spreading the Twitter love, I thought I would once again encourage you to get on Twitter and follow these fantastic folks. They have great things to say – even in just 140 characters.
Here are the Twitter handles from many of the speakers at the ... More

I’m finally back from my 10-day road trip to CJU and BlogWorld. Back-to-back conferences means lots of schmoozing, a ton of great ideas, a laundry lit of action items, hundreds of business cards to input, interesting people to follow up with and much catching up to do.
Commission Junction’s CJU was a great event. The format changed a bit from year’s past, but the networking was still top-notch. If you want to see all the winners from the CJ/You ... More

It's been a great CJU so far this year. This morning's keynote, Guy Kawasaki, spoke about innovation and offered some interesting pearls of wisdom. Jupiter analyst Patti Freeman-Evan was uplifting by telling the crowd that her research showed online marketing to be nearly recession proof. The two sessions i hit today (Web 2.0 and one on managing search and affiliate marketing) were both very informative - offering good examples of success stories. Tonight is the awards dinner. And tomorrow there ... More

I have a confession: I’m a lousy marketer. You’d think that someone who writes about online marketing for a living would be much better as translating everything I pick up from interviewing experts and have transformed into a marketing machine. But I’m a journalist by trade, have been for more than 20 years, and marketing has always had a different connotation for me. For me, marketing equaled self promotion, and as a journalist we are taught that the story is ... More

It’s been a busy week. Many of you are trying to ramp up online marketing campaigns for the fast-approaching holiday season while trying to usher the kids back to school and settle into a new daily routine.
Google has also been very busy this week. The company announced a new product that is being called YouTube for Business as well as a new browser called Chrome. Chrome is getting much more attention. The focus on Chrome is about its features that ... More

I’m finally able look up for more than two minutes this week. That means that cleaning off my desk and my cleaning out my inbox before the big three-day weekend. Here are some things I found during my frenzy that I thought I’d share.
New Home
The Affiliate Thing podcast co-hosted by Shawn Collins and I has a new home. Starting today, you can now listen to the full 30 minute show at GeekCast.FM. It’s still the same affiliate-focused content ... More

Where do I start? The Affiliate Summit is over! Oh, you want more info? Okay let me give you the quick run down.
Before the Summit officially kicked off there was the Affiliate Dinner, which roasted FlamingoWorld.com’s head bird, Connie Berg. It featured truly hilarious videos from the Brother’s Schaaf (Brook and Forrest) and one from Missy Ward that had people rolling in the aisles. If you know Connie and missed the special issue of Revenue dedicated solely to Connie, email ... More
