Revenue is pleased to be nominated for a 2008 LinkShare Golden Link Award for the Performance Marketing’s Most Vocal Advocate. This is the same category we were nominated in last year, but lost to the fabulous Kellie Stevens of AffiliateFairPlay.com.
This year’s competition is also very stiff as we face off against super affiliate Scott Jangro of MechMedia and InternetGeekGirl Stephanie Agresta. I’ll be thrilled no matter who wins (ok, I seriously don’t want to be a ... More

I just got off a conference call where the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) attempted to give an overview of the New York State Tax Bill that goes into effect on June 1, 2008.
While LinkShare joined forces with the DMA to get its affiliates and partners involved in the teleconference call, no LinkShare representatives spoke during the more than hour long call, which also included a Q&Q period.
Speaking on the behalf of the DMA was its Tax Counsel George Isaacson, ... More

Beginning on June 1 the state of New York will start charging taxes for online transactions to companies that have no physical presence in that state. There has been a lot of discussion about this issue, how it impacts affiliates and merchants, and whether or not these regulations might be adopted by other states.
All the parties impacted by the statute seem to be taking a different approach to the issue.
Amazon came out swinging earlier this month by filing suit ... More

After a little more than two years as president of LinkShare and eight years total with the performance network, Steve Denton resigned today. In a call shortly after the news hit the wire services, Denton told Revenue that it was “truly a personal decision” to step down. He says that he’s made a decision to “spend more time being a dad” and with his family.
Denton also stressed that he’s leaving the team at LinkShare in “great shape” and in ... More

I’m off to attend the LinkShare Summit all day today. I expect the day to be jam-packed with networking and sessions. I’m really looking forward to hearing the keynote speaker Ian Ayres, a professor at the Yale School of Management and author of the book Super Crunchers: Why Thinking-By-Numbers is the New Way to be Smart. I always get something valuable from speakers with an economic, academic or business background.
I’m also getting a little one-on-one time with LinkShare President ... More

I’m very disappointed not to be attending PubCon in Las Vegas this week. Due to a family thing that came up at the last minute, I had to cancel the trip. This was going to be my first PubCon, which everyone had warned me is a blast as well as a great place to network and gather new information.
If you’re at the show, let me know. I’d love a full report from the conference – especially about Google’s Matt Cutts’ ... More

I would have brought you some interesting LinkShare news yesterday, but I didn’t hear about it until today. I had to call LinkShare’s PR firm to get the information. You’d think that when a company wants press coverage it might send a press release to the editorial department of a media organization – not to the sales director. You’d think.
I’m not trying to single out LinkShare as the only company that makes minor media missteps. They are just ... More

The last couple of days have been busy. We sent the Nov./Dec. issue of Revenue to the printer on Thursday and then I headed off to ShareASale ThinkTank in Scottsdale, Arizona Friday morning.
I did not attend the first ThinkTank, held last year in Las Vegas. But I feel privileged to have been among the 80 invited guests at this fantastic event, which was an incredible meeting of affiliates and merchants.
Held at a gorgeous resort, ThinkTank was ... More
