By: Lisa Picarille

If you’re like me and didn’t make it over to London for Ad:Tech and the first-ever Affiliate Summit London then you’re probably dying to know what’s been happening in the UK this week. I haven’t heard or read a lot of updates. Even Affiliate Summit co-founder Shawn Collins, who is a prolific blogger and poster, hasn’t had any entries on either event. And I’ve only seen a scant few updates via twitter and on Facebook. Shawn and his ... More

Today’s Wall St. Journal has an article about what Jay Berkowitz, CEO of Ten Golden Rules, an Internet marketing agency based in Boca Raton, Fla., is reading and listening to. Guess what? Jay apparently is a fan of the Affiliate Thing podcast hosted by Shawn Collins and myself. Thanks Jay. Check out what else has captured Jay’s attention. I’ll be hosting the Affiliate Thing solo this week (and have a very special surprise guest) as Shawn Collins heads ... More

The Reality of Online Programming

By: Lisa Picarille

As I type this blog entry I’m watching the second installment of the Next Internet Millionaire. I’m still not fully on board; not hooked. As I said before, there is just not enough backstabbing and controversy. Here’s my advice, people - stop nominating yourself for elimination. Start going after the weaklings. Form some alliances. I also need someone that I can love to hate. No villain has emerged. I need an Omarosa or at least a ... More

Get with the Program

I finally finished watching the first episode of the Next Internet Millionaire. The production values were good and I really enjoyed the show, but it was just a little tame for me. However, I expect some backstabbing and nastiness to be on the way (Thor, I’m counting on you). I’ve viewed too many reality programs over the years and my threshold/desire for conflict on these show is pretty high. I don’t have any early winner predictions for the Next Internet ... More

The Collision of Marketing, TV and the Internet

The first episode of the online-only marketing reality show The Next Internet Millionaire is now available to watch. I’ve only checked out about half of this first installment so far. There will be 12 total (a new one posted each week). I’m planning on trying really hard to watch the show. But I have to confess that being viewable only online is a drawback for me. I noticed that it’s already taken me over an hour to watch ... More

Already the week for performance marketing is off to a busy start with Google, Microsoft and ValueClick grabbing lots of ink (virtual and real) - again. Google Inches Toward Comprehensive Online (and Offline) Ad Solution Deal Moves Digital Advertising Beyond the Desktop ValueClick being investigated by FTC Women 18-34 the Dominant Online Group in the U.K. And don't forget that Joel Comm ... Online Marketing Star

So, it looks like The Next Internet Millionaire really wants me to be on the show. Check out the email they sent me practically begging me to audition. No one can possibly use so many exclamation marks unless they really want you. Here’s the email I received: Hi Lisa, The Next Internet Millionaire is being discussed all over the web, and I believe the buzz is still just beginning! Everyone is telling me that what we are doing is an incredible thing, ... More
