I’m finally recovered from last week’s Ad:Tech San Francisco madness. It was a great conference. Now, I’m prepping for this week’s onslaught of Web 2.0 Expo. There seems to be a huge buzz around this show. Everyone I talk with is eagerly anticipating the conference or maybe they are just hyped up about the many parties that are planned. Anyway, you slice it I expect this to be a fantastic week of schmoozing and learning more.
If you’re attending the ... More

No matter how much I prepare each year for the Ad:Tech tsunami to hit San Francisco, I’m never truly ready. Weeks before the conference, I begin meticulously making out my schedule for each day – what companies I’ll meet with, what sessions to attend, which booths I promised to stopped by; and of course, which parties and events I need be at.
I also try and get my real work done in advance knowing that I’ll be out of pocket ... More

Today is a day of jokes, pranks, scams and other hijinx. I’m not going o attempt to pull the wool over your eyes. You’re too smart and I’m just not feeling that clever this morning.
So, while everyone else is busy perpetrating trickery on this day, I’m simply going to pass on something worthwhile. It’s a 20 percent discount to attend Ad:Tech San Francisco later this month. No tom foolery here. Just 20 percent off the registration ... More

It's a very busy week for online marketing events. I’m not going to Ad:Tech New York or Blog World in Las Vegas. My persistent neck and shoulder pain along with a heavy workload has halted my travel schedule and I cancelled for both shows. I’m not leaving the Bay Area until December (although I wish I wasn’t going anywhere until 2008).
So, for the hundreds of PR people that have sent me emails requesting meetings at Ad:Tech I’m not ... More

Ad:Tech SF is officially over and I couldn’t be happier. Not that I didn’t enjoy my 20-plus hours days for four straight days this week, but frankly I’m not 27 any more (nor have I been for a while).
Thursday afternoon I was pretty wiped out and completely on overload about interacting with online marketing folks. That all changed when a fresh-faced online marketer approached my Affiliate Thing co-host Shawn Collins, while a bunch of us were hanging out ... More

Day two of Ad:Tech and I’m still alive – barely. This has been a tough week here in the Internet Aquarium. I have met with so many people, attended lots of sessions and walked the floors a little bit. It’s all a crowded, buzzing haze of excitement.
My Affiliate Thing co-host Shawn Collins and I did the podcast today live from the show floor. That was a new experience. Shawn and I are never on the same room ... More

It’s all about Ad:Tech this week – plenty of meetings, cocktail parties, sessions, panels, podcasting and schmoozing. For about a week I’ve been gearing up for the show, which starts Tuesday. And while I anticipated seeing lots of familiar faces all throughout this week, I wasn’t expecting to see any over the weekend.
However, as I was celebrating the 60th birthday of the grandfather of punk on Saturday night at the Warfield Theater, I ran into Todd Crawford and ... More
