Videoblogging: Is it a Man’s World?

March 24th, 2008

Revenue has published many articles on the merits of using video as an online marketing tool. There are lots of people pushing the video blogging envelope in the online marketing space - Sam Harrelson, Mark Wielgus, Jim Kukral, Shawn Collins and many others. What you should note about this list is not that most of these folks are well known in the online marketing industry (they are) but that they are men.

Joining the Asus Army

March 21st, 2008

Today is Good Friday and so far the day has lived up to its name. If for nothing else than I’m only hours away from it being the weekend.

Truthfully, the reason that it’s been such a good day for me is that I’m spending lots of time playing with my new ASUS eee PC. Shawn Collins may be touting the value of his Vostro but I love, love, love my new tiny little laptop.

Denton Leaves LinkShare to be a Dad

March 18th, 2008

After a little more than two years as president of LinkShare and eight years total with the performance network, Steve Denton resigned today. In a call shortly after the news hit the wire services, Denton told Revenue that it was “truly a personal decision” to step down. He says that he’s made a decision to “spend more time being a dad” and with his family.

Revenue Spreads the Love

February 13th, 2008

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. I hope you already got some gifts for your sweetie. If not, what the heck are you waiting for? So, once that very important task is out of the way you can move on to sharing your love and appreciation with others.

Here are some simple ideas for spreading the love. And each should take you only about 10 minutes. That’s not much time to make someone feel special.

My First Social Media Birthday

February 7th, 2008

Yesterday was my birthday and for weeks I was totally dreading it. Recently my personal life has been turned upside down. The thought of celebrating yet another year just didn’t feel right (or even possible) given that it’s been difficult to muster up a smile most days.

However, the day turned out to be a pretty good one because of my involvement with social media. Celebratory wishes, good vibes and of course “humor” about my advancing age poured in via Facebook, Twitter, IM, several forums I’m active in, and email – and in the form of video.

The Online Marketing Hookup

February 6th, 2008

The last week has been a whirlwind of analysis about mergers and acquisitions in the interactive marketing space.

The biggest news was the Microsoft/Yahoo deal, which was announced at the end of last week. Here’s what some news (The Boston Globe, CNN, the New York Times) outlets are saying about Microhoo!

LinkShare Summit Recap

February 1st, 2008

The one-day LinkShare Summit is over and I came away from the event with some new ideas, a ton of business cards, a renewed positive outlook about the state of interactive marketing and a very nasty head cold.

LinkShare Summit Kicks Off

January 31st, 2008

I’m off to attend the LinkShare Summit all day today. I expect the day to be jam-packed with networking and sessions. I’m really looking forward to hearing the keynote speaker Ian Ayres, a professor at the Yale School of Management and author of the book Super Crunchers: Why Thinking-By-Numbers is the New Way to be Smart. I always get something valuable from speakers with an economic, academic or business background.

I’m on GeekCast 3 (Sort Of)

January 29th, 2008

I had a family emergency and had to leave work unexpectedly today, so I didn’t make it on the GeekCast podcast this week. It was all the boys. However, if I was able to participate in episode 3 of GeekCast here’s what I would have said. Listen to the show and insert my comments wherever you choose.
