The Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas is huge. I can’t believe that yesterday’s Meet Market hall had more than 100 exhibitors – and that’s not even the exhibit hall floor, which doesn’t open until today. There are expected to be more than 2,700 attendees – a big portion of them affiliates not just merchants, network types and vendors.
The weekend was packed with networking. For me, I spent lots of time with old friends and got to meet so many new people. I already have a bunch of new story ideas and contacts for stories we are currently working on.
The ShareASale party on Sunday night was first class. It took place at an amazing suite at the Palms (I’m sure pics of folks on the rotating bed will be surfacing online any moment now). SAS CEO Brian Littleton, along with his crew (Carolyn Tang and Sarah Beeskow) really know how to party like rock stars and make everyone else feel like one too.
This morning I’m gearing up for a long day that includes Jason Calacanis’ keynote, lots of sessions, some booth duty (come by #126 – I’ll be there from Noon to 1pm), The Affiliate Summit Pinnacle Awards (fingers crossed on that one) and the giant Affiliate Bash.
I just wish I brought more comfy shoes. There’s a lot of walking here in Vegas (not even counting the Affiliate Fit Club walk on Saturday morning). I’m wearing a pedometer just to see how far I walk (without even trying) and so far I’ve gone over 30,000 steps in two days. That’s like 15 miles and the conference is just gearing up.
