The Reality of Online Programming

By Lisa Picarille

August 29th, 2007

As I type this blog entry I’m watching the second installment of the Next Internet Millionaire. I’m still not fully on board; not hooked. As I said before, there is just not enough backstabbing and controversy.

Here’s my advice, people - stop nominating yourself for elimination. Start going after the weaklings. Form some alliances. I also need someone that I can love to hate. No villain has emerged. I need an Omarosa or at least a Richard Hatch – and fast.

Plus, there isn’t anyone on the show who seems to perform any better at these tasks than I could. I’m willing to admit my many limitations but I know I could run circles aroundthese contestants.

Also, two episodes into the show and no one has gone home yet. Instead they are put in the sandbox. Give me a break. I want see someone booted over else it’s over for me. Joel Comm is a nice guy that has been very successful in his business ventures but I’d like to see him slap (okay, not physically) some of these folks around a bit.

And of course, I had the same issues with the controls that I has last time around. I was six minutes from being done with the entire show, then I opened a link from an instant message and that link popped up in the same browser window as the show. Bang. With one click I was back at the start of the episode. That alone is frustrating enough to make me give up on watching. Yeah, yeah, I could download the show to another player and then watch it. Not happening. It’s becoming far too much work for what it’s worth to me.

I’m giving the program one more episode then I’m abandoning it. Maybe the third time will be the charm. If not, someone can simply email me when a winner is announced.

[…] After watching this episode, I’ve got to agree partly with Lisa Picarille, Editor and Publisher of Revenue Magazine, from the comments on her blog: “…there isn’t anyone on the show who seems to perform any better at these tasks than I could. I’m willing to admit my many limitations but I know I could run circles around these contestants.” […]
