As I type this blog entry I’m watching the second installment of the Next Internet Millionaire. I’m still not fully on board; not hooked. As I said before, there is just not enough backstabbing and controversy.
Here’s my advice, people - stop nominating yourself for elimination. Start going after the weaklings. Form some alliances. I also need someone that I can love to hate. No villain has emerged. I need an Omarosa or at least a Richard Hatch – and fast.

Again, I feel hopelessly behind. I’ve let the blogging slide in favor of my obsession with Twitter and Facebook. Plus, I spent most of the week at Search Engine Strategies in San Jose. That means this entry will be another fabulous compilation of what’s been happening around the industry and in my little world.

I finally finished watching the first episode of the Next Internet Millionaire. The production values were good and I really enjoyed the show, but it was just a little tame for me. However, I expect some backstabbing and nastiness to be on the way (Thor, I’m counting on you). I’ve viewed too many reality programs over the years and my threshold/desire for conflict on these show is pretty high.
I don’t have any early winner predictions for the Next Internet Millionaire, but no matter who is victorious the finale won’t be nearly as fun for me as other reality shows. For me, reality programming is a social event. My friends and I have a history of watching these types of show together.

The first episode of the online-only marketing reality show The Next Internet Millionaire is now available to watch. I’ve only checked out about half of this first installment so far. There will be 12 total (a new one posted each week).
I’m planning on trying really hard to watch the show. But I have to confess that being viewable only online is a drawback for me. I noticed that it’s already taken me over an hour to watch 25 minutes because I’m at work and when I’m in front of my computer I tend to be distracted by other things – email, IM, Facebook, Twitter, Web surfing, real work. No matter how hard I try I just can’t sit still and watch any kind of video on my computer. However, I have no trouble watching anything on TV at home.

I nearly forgot about blogging all week. I’d love to blame it on this huge deadline I’ve been facing, but I think it might be more about all the time I’ve been spending on Twitter and Facebook. I’m constantly sending and receiving information via both of those applications - as well as IM and email - so I’ve felt like I’ve already communicated most of my thoughts for the week (well, at least those that are PG or work-related).
But I guess if I dig deep there is still a little bit of relevant stuff to share:

It recently came to my attention that a particularly well-known company was being labeled as a bad adware player by one of the online marketing’s most vocal anti-adware advocates.
My first reaction was excitement that another bad guy had been outed by the intrepid and tireless Kellie Stevens. My next reaction was complete anxiety. That’s because the company alleged to have committed these unsavory practices is a repeat advertiser in our magazine.

I’m now on Facebook.com. I didn’t go willingly but one of the groups that are very important to me moved from Yahoo to Facebook and I had to go with them in order to participate.
In most cases I’m eager to test drive the latest widget or social network or Web 2.0 application. However, all too often my enthusiasm fades very quickly and I move on when the initial excitement fades and I realize what a time suck it’s become or that its over-hyped usefulness is just that – hype.
