The ShareASale Slice of the Pie

By Lisa Picarille

July 8th, 2007

Sorry for the delay in posts, but Miami is hopping with affiliate action. Many more Affiliate Summit attendees arrived on Saturday night just in time to join the crowd for the Affiliate Dinner Roast of Missy Ward and the Buy.at party in South Beach.

Missy was a good sport as come close friends poked fun at her. Her Affiliate Summit co-host Shawn Collins created a hilarious video. Unfortunately, it will likely not get posted since not all the material was appropriate for general consumption.

Those that attended the Buy.at party had a good time. I ended up skipping it. Sitting in the hotel bar with a diverse group of super smart and very fun affiliates provided me with more laughs and insight than would have ever been possible with the pulsing pace of a nightclub.

Sunday morning was registration, a little bit of booth set up (Hey, I pitch in where I’m needed) and a lot of coffee. Then it was off to the Meet Market. The room was jam- packed. It seemed about twice the size of the one in Las Vegas in January. Lots of tables had fun giveaways. But, by far, my favorite booth was AffiliateHugs.com. I paid my $20, which goes to the March of Dimes, to get a hug from Scott “Scooter” Hazard. Best hug ever. I have my “freshly squeezed” t-shirt to prove it.

However, the highlight of the day was the “Under the Stars” party sponsored by ABestWeb.com and ShareASale. As usual, ShareASale CEO Brian Littleton knows how to throw one hell of a party. It first class all the way – from the Hummer stretch limo that took a group of us to South Beach to the roof top VIP penthouse and deck.

And being the good sport that he is Brian took a pie in the face. I’m still not clear why – even though I was the one who was threw it. Actually, our sales director, Tobias Siegel, had his name chosen from the fishbowl and I just stepped when he wasn’t around.

So far, it’s been a great event and the actual conference portion hasn’t even started. I’m excited about the keynote, which is just hours away, but not nearly as amped up as Sam Harrelson and Jim Kukral.

Check back for Monday’s report and peek in on our booth at the show. We are streaming live.
