There is a lot interesting stuff to ponder. Some of it new and some I’m just getting to after a busy week last week. In any case, here’s what’s taking up a little space in my head this morning.
*Better late than…
Anyway, Kellie Stevens, president of AffiliateFairPlay.com, does a comprehensive job of sniffing out an adware giant that hasn’t gone away but simply rebranded itself.
*Losing my religion
Tune into Wednesday’s Affiliate Thing podcast on WebMasterRadio.FM. This week Shawn and I will be talking with Wade Tonkin of Christian Affiliate Marketers and Shmuel “Shmuly” Tennenhaus, who was recently nominated Most Eligible Hassidic Bachelor at Shmais.com and a former affiliate manager for Ice.com.
Show your faith and do your Affiliate Thing by calling in at 866-345-6631 between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. EST on Wednesdays.
*The shows must go on
Hopefully, you caught my keynote for eComXpo last week. If not, it’s archived but I think you need to register.
Also, be sure to check out Ad:Tech in San Francisco in April. I’m hosting a panel on Driving Lifetime Customer Value via Performance Marketing. I’m honored to have some really great people participating on the panel, including Affiliate Summit co-founder Shawn Collins (the Affiliate Summit folks also have a booth at Ad:Tech), Jay Webster of BlueLithium, Brian Platter of Peet’s Coffee and Tea and Rene Bonvanie of Salesforce.com. Drop by to check out the lively discussion.
*File this one under the power of the Web (or maybe the It’s-All-About-Me category)
Another print publication (that I worked at) ceases its 29-year run of using ink and trees to deliver its tech news and will instead reach its readers online.
*Where did it go?
Last week I remember seeing a post by Shawn Collins on Threadwatch.org about the ongoing investigation of Azoogle and ringtones by the Florida Attorney General’s office.
The comments were interesting, but I didn’t have a chance to read them all. When I went back over the weekend to look for the thread, it was gone. I did manage to find the direct URL but all the comments were gone. What happened?
I know that lately some folks have been questioning Shawn’s motives for posting about this topic and there have been some aggressive efforts to discredit him. A little digging reveals that many of the people leading those efforts are closely tied and aligned with editors at Threadwatch. So, is it a coincidence that the post is buried?
*I’m mad
Usually I have a bad case of March Madness. This time around I’m just plain mad. I believe that my presence at close to the bottom of the office pool has mathematically eliminated me from any cash prize or bragging rights. With no bracket to care about I am forced to be productive at work. Now you can see why I’m really mad.
*Moving on
Jim Kukral, the publisher of ReveNews.com, is leaving to pursue his own entrepreneurial efforts. You can check out his final post at ReveNews. Best of luck Jim.
